Accounts dept to approach govt on re-evaluating papers of ‘those’ 8000 ‘failed’ candidates

Panaji: Accounts director Prakash Pereira today said that the department will consult State government on whether they should go for re-evaluation of mark sheets of those 8000 candidates, who failed to clear the initial recruitment examination for the post of accounts.

Not a single candidate amongst 8000, who answered for the post of accountant (direct recruitment) , cleared the written examination held in January. The papers for the examination were set by Goa Board, who claimed that the paper was not tough.

Congress party today afternoon gheroed director accounts and demanded that the re-evaluation of answer sheets should be done through Goa University or all the 8000 candidates should be allowed re-examination.

Speaking to reporters, Pereira said that the decision about re-evaluation has to be taken by the government and that a proposal in this regard would be moved.

He also said that department will re-advertise for the post of 100 accountants, however, failed to give assurance that these 8000 candidates would be given priority.
