Benaulim : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday announced its youth wing in the Benaulim constituency under the leadership of Capt Venzy Viegas, Vice President of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) at Goa.
The party has formed a 15-member youth committee consisting of Vinoshlee Dasilva, Risban Gracias and, Mark Barretto as Vice Presidents and Adv. Lancy Rodrigues and Shaneli Rodrigues as the General Secretaries.
The youth in Goa has been severely impacted due to joblessness primarily due to the pandemic and the ban on mining in the state. The youth wing will focus its attention on several important issues like unemployment, sports, social and cultural, women safety, and other issues concerning youth and students of Benaulim.
Capt Venzy Viegas stated that the youth in Goa are immensely talented in several sports, however due to lack of sports infrastructure facility, their potential goes untapped.
“The talented youth today are playing sports in smaller plot of land which are not even developed. There is a need to identify such talented player from Goa and provide them a national platform. We aim to support the talent of such youngsters who have the potential through the youth wing that we have set up today,” he said.
AAP would be developing a manifesto with the help of these youth which would be fulfilled over the period of next five years, he said.
The youth wing of the party will begin a membership drive across the Benaulim constituency.
“We are expecting at least 200 youths – boys and girls – to join hands during our membership drive to develop Goa as a better State,” Capt Venzy Viegas stated.
Risban Gracias, Vice Presidents, youth wing, Benaulim constituency informed that the youth of Goa connects with the issues raised by the Aam Aadmi Party and has hence decided to join them.
The move assumes significance in the run-up to the State assembly polls due to be held early next year.
