Panaji: Around 50,000 students between age group of 12 to 14 years are eligible in Goa for the COVID-19 vaccination that will begin across the state from Wednesday.
State Immunisation Officer Dr Rajendra Borkar told PTI that the vaccination would be given either by visiting respective schools or inviting them to the government run health centres from Wednesday onwards covering the children between 12 to 14 years with Corbevax vaccine.
He said that total 50,000 children under this age category are eligible for this vaccination. “Children will be given two doses of vaccine intramuscularly with a gap of 28 days,” Borkar said.
The state government has 40-odd facilities in the form of Primary Health Centres, Community Health Centres etc across the state.
He stated that this vaccination will extend the protection against the COVID-19 to all the children in the age group of 12-14 since the schools have reopened.
Speaking about the vaccination programme across all the age groups, Borkar said that Goa has administered 26,37399 doses of covid vaccine in the state with 100 per cent vaccination of two doses to the people above the age of 18 years.
