Panaji: Independent legislator and State Civil Supplies Minister Govind Gawade has opposed handing over the charge to seniormost minister when Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is away for treatment.

MGP had demanded that the charge should be handed over to seniormost minister making a pitch for their leader Sudin Dhavalikar to be caretaker CM.

“Question does not arise of giving charge to senior minister. What is important is his capability to handle the charge,” Gawade said.

“Also when we are in alliance, the decision should be taken collectively. It is a decision of the alliance,” he said.

Gawade said that MGP has a right to demand anything but they should also check their past history.

MGP in the past had former government with Congress.

“ Health grounds of the seniormost minister whom there is demand to hand over the charge also should be checked,” he said referring to the illness of Dhavalikar who was recently admitted in Mumbai hospital.

Gawade said that there are no discussion about leadership change in the government. “MGP is triggering this unwanted discussion and they are master in such acts. There is no issue of handing over charge to seniormost minister,” he added.
