Margao: Just as the Feast fair fund’s misappropriation fraud got hotter with the arrest of MMC staff Yogesh Shetkar, another fraud was brought to the fore by Margao Congress Block, who charged that political godfathers were supporting the fraudster.
Addressing the media along with Ex-Councillor Radha Kavlekar, Adv. Snehal Onskar, Arch. Carlos Gracias, Lalan Parsekar, Lincoln Gomes, Damodar Onskar, Robert Vaz, Camilo Camara, and Sujata Parsekar, Margao Congress leader Mr. Savio Coutinho, while exhibiting receipts and MOUs executed by Mr. Yogesh Shetkar, revealed that this government staff had floated a financial company named “Devrichtechnotics Future World Pvt. Ltd.” Mr. Yogeshwar Devidas Shetkar has signed up as the Director of this “company.”
As per the scheme of the company of Mr. Yogeshwar Shetkar, one lakh invested would fetch profits of ₹1000 per day for 365 days, upon the completion of 12 months lock-in period from the date of investment, Mr. Coutinho informed.
Producing one of the MOUs executed before Advocate and Notary Vilas Anant Naik, Mr. Coutinho said that it is rather shocking and surprising how Public Notaries entertain such fraudulent instruments and give them the appearance of being genuine.
Mr. Coutinho stated that the police, who came up with the theory that Yogeshwar was hiding in neighboring states of Maharashtra and Karnataka and that he was sleeping at railway stations to evade arrest, should care to investigate and explain how he got money for his travel and daily meals, as he appeared fit and fine at the time of arrest. “No individual, under stress and without proper meals, spending nights at stations, would be so fit after nearly six months of such an ordeal,” Mr. Coutinho said.
Mr. Coutinho called upon Margao MLA Digamber Kamat to break his silence on this fraud and at least deny having any connection with the accused. His silence is deafening, especially when it is the Council under him which is found to be engaged in scam after scam.
Margao Congress Block demanded that the police and the authorities act on this fraud and make good the losses to the public exchequer and the people duped by Mr. Shetkar. If necessary, those officials who neglected this issue should be made to compensate, he said further.
