The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has appointed Dr. G. Shrinivas as the Regional Director of IGNOU Regional Centre, Goa. Dr. Shrinivas brings with him extensive experience in academia, research, and educational administration.
With over 15 years of teaching experience and academic administrative leadership, Dr. Shrinivas has contributed significantly to the field of Open and Distance Learning (ODL). He has served in various capacities at different IGNOU Regional Centres, including Mumbai and Goa, and has played a crucial role in learner support services, faculty development, and policy implementation.
A distinguished academician, Dr. Shrinivas holds a Ph.D. from Karnatak University and multiple postgraduate diplomas in Higher Education, Distance Education, and Educational Administration from IGNOU. His research interests span rural development, sustainable tourism, and distance learning methodologies, with numerous publications in reputed national and international journals.
Earlier he served as Assistant Professor in damodar College Margao, Assistant Regional Director, Deputy Director in IGNOU.
In addition to his academic contributions, Dr. Shrinivas has been actively involved in training and capacity-building programs for educators and policymakers. He has trained over 1,200 Navodaya teachers across multiple states and has been an invited speaker at various seminars and workshops on National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, research methodology, and rural development.
As the new Regional Director of IGNOU Regional Centre, Goa, Dr. Shrinivas aims to strengthen IGNOU’s outreach and enhance learner support services in the region. His leadership is expected to further IGNOU’s mission of providing accessible and quality education to learners across diverse backgrounds. He also aims of establishing permanent campus of IGNOU in Goa in next 2 years.
