Sanquelim: JCI Sanquelim marked International Women’s Day with a grand celebration on March 8, 2025, at Khedekar Hall, Sankhali, Goa.
The event honored five distinguished women for their exceptional contributions, with Superintendent of Police, Ms. Sunita Sawant, presenting the awards along with JCI India Zone 11(Goa and Maharashtra) Zone President JFD Shaba Gauns and President JC HGF Nikita Desai. Among the honorees were Adv. Sharmila Patil Paryekar, a lawyer and public notary; Ms. Rita De Sa, an educator, NLP trainer, and author; Smt. Chandravati Chandrakant Aukhale, a folk artist; Ms. Snetali Milind Naik, an entrepreneur; and Ms. Asha Rane, a dedicated lady home guard.
In her keynote address, SP Sawant emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment and raised awareness about online and telephonic scams, urging women to seek police assistance when needed. She also shared valuable parenting insights, stressing the role of mothers in shaping responsible future generations. Adv. Patil educated the audience on legal rights for women, while Ms. Snetali Naik shared her entrepreneurial journey. Ms. Rita De Sa, a cancer survivor, spoke about breaking the stigma around the disease and the importance of early medical intervention.
As part of the celebration, a “Cook Without Flame” competition was organized, where Ms. Santoshi Narvekar secured first place, followed by Ms. Dharna Gawas in second and Ms. Pratibha Naik in third. The competition was judged by Ms. Druvi Chari and Ms. Mitali Desai. There were total 17 participants participating for the cooking competition.
The event was spearheaded by President JC Nikita Desai, with JC Bindiya Kansekar as the Project Head and JC Tanvi Patil hosting the function. JCI Sanquelim’s Women’s Day celebration was a tribute to the strength and resilience of women, reinforcing the importance of empowerment, awareness, and community support.
