With the overall cleanliness, the cleanliness of mind is also required: Siddhesh Shripad Naik

Old Goa: Sharada Government High School, Cumbharjua celebrated Gandhi Jayanti and Shastri Jayanti on October 02.

Social worker Siddhesh Shripad Naik who was the chief guest for the function while addressing the program said “every citizen is responsible to keep clean the surroundings, the village and the city where he or she lives.”

 Naik, the young social activist, stated further that the cleaning of mind is also necessary with the overall outer cleaning. He also appealed the people to maintain cleanliness in life.

President of the parents – teacher committee SDevidas Raikar, vice president Gajanan Adkonkar, the president of school education committee Varsha Sawant and the Principal of Sharada government high school, Kumbharjuva were present on the occasion.

 The program started in a different way. Instead of starting with welcome song, the program started with the bhajan ,” kaun kahata hai Bhagwan hote nahi, sacche dil se unhe tum bulate nahi.”

The main function started with the lighting of lamps.  One of the teachers of the school Prarthana Naik gave the brief information about Gandhiji and Shastriji’s life.

Principal  Alvares made children aware of Gandhiji and Shastriji’s jayanti.

Chief guestSiddhesh Naik distributed physical exercise uniforms to all 214 students. The expenses for these uniforms were borne by Shri. Siddhesh Naik.

After this, students presented different cultural programs including poem reading, speeches on Gandhi ji and Shastri ji, One act, fancy dress competition. All programs were presented with great enthusiasm.

Before that the day started with the “ Swachhata rally” lead by students. In this rally students gave different slogans and made an appeal to maintain cleanliness.

The day ended with the street play presented by students at Kumbharjuva panchayat and the distribution of paper bags made by students. The message of “Freedom from plastic” was conveyed through this street play. The play was performed by the students of 9th std. and was directed by the teacher Miss. Nimi Fadate.

Thanks giving speech was given by Harsha Fadate and the whole program was conducted by Sanjivani Yogish Joshi.
