Aam Aadmi Party asked the government to clarify whether by allowing Restaurants to open and disallowing bars any purpose was being served to keep Covid at bay. AAP General Secretary Pradeep Padgaonkar said that people engaged in bar businesses were reeling under the impact of closure of business due to lockdown even as the government had already opened up the wholesale liquor outlets and now had allowed restaurants to open.
“ The bars and tavernas have been traditional businesses . Government’s decision to first allow sale of liquor through wholesale shops and now permitting restaurants to open is gross injustice to both bar owners as well as bar customers. Are there any expert studies that support keeping bars closed ? Or as usual this government being a pawn of the centre is waiting for SOPs ?” asked Padgaonkar demanding fair treatment to bar owners.

  1. That’s true… first the idea for bar opened than restaurants which have been shut for last 3months being opened now without the bar is ridiculous…. if someone wants to drink they have done it with the opening of shops… so restaurants why not. Government need to put alot in place without business they except us to pay excise licenses from where… secondly the cost of provisions n fish is gone so high … how does we justify this… when the taxes are all laid towards restaurant but the fishermen do not pay a single tax n still the price of fish is gone so high… too many things to put in place… survival is becoming suicidal
