Saligao: While continuing his opposition for expansion of garbage treatment plant, Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar told reporters on Tuesday that the objection is not towards the treating of waste with existing capacity of the plant.
Salgaonkar said that they are opposing expansion of the plant as it will create problems for the people living in the area. He said that they are not objecting to the existing plant with the current capacity.
“We will not allow expansion of the plant,” he said.
The MLA also raised issue about garbage being spilled on the way to the plant by trucks. He said that the narrow roads of the locality turn into accident-prone zones due to spillage of wet waste.
Indirectly referring to Waste management minister Michael Lobo, Salgaonkar said that he should not insult the people of Saligao, who are peace loving and have cooperated with the state government while setting up the plant.
