Panaji: In a big relief to Goa Government, Supreme Court today restored the environment clearance (EC) granted to Greenfield international airport at Mopa.
With this, the work of the project, which was stalled since March, last year, can be resumed.
The Apex Court had in March, 2019 suspended the environmental clearance granted to the airport and directed Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) to revisit the decision in light of its impact on ecology.
While restoring the EC, Court has directed State and the project proponent to ensure that all conditions stipulated by MoEF, National Green Tribunal and EAC are implemented during the construction and operational phase.
