The ST community in Goa have been agitating, demanding that they should be given reservation in the Goa legislative assembly before the 2027 polls.

Sawant said that the Union Home minister has assured resolution of the matter.

The chief minister said that the delegation of ST community, which is in New Delhi, could not be a part of the meeting “owing to the last minute exigency.”

“However, the Union Home minister will meet them on the next occasion,” Sawant said.

In the recent past, the chief minister had assured that the centre will form the Delimitation Commission before the Lok Sabha elections (2024) and the reservation would be granted by 2027 Goa assembly polls.
