Fatorda: Goa Forward Party chief Vijai Sardesai on Monday said that the tumultuous political development was perhaps to sabotage the ongoing monsoon session.

Sardesai along with his party colleagues – Vinod Palyekar and Jayesh Salgaonkar and Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte – were dropped from the cabinet on Saturday to pave way for induction of four new faces.

“This session and timing of this tumultuous political development perhaps was to sabotage this session,” Sardesai told reporters in Margao, referring to the monsoon session of the assembly which began on Monday.

“No one can figure out who is in opposition and who is in ruling. You have to sit and figure out. The ruling benches are spilling out in the opposition side on the floor of the House,” he commented.

A group of ten Congress MLAs on last Wednesday had merged into BJP increasing the strength of the party to 27 from 17. The opposition is left with five Congress, three Goa Forward Party and an Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte.

Sardesai said that he is at ease after being dropped out because “there are so many things which could hae been worst.” “For example, if I was to be kept and my other colleagues are to be removed then I would have been embarrassing situation for me. BJP saved me from facing such a situation,” he quipped.

He said that his party won 2017 Goa Assembly election with precision and fielded four seats, of which victory was on three seats. “We came to power and we have achieved what we wanted to,” he said.
