Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Monday evening flagged off the “Astha” train to Ayodhya carrying around 2,000 pilgrims from the coastal state.

Sawant along with BJP Goa President Sadanand Shet Tanavade and other MLAs were present during the flagging off ceremony held on Monday evening at Thivim Railway station in North Goa.

People from various walks of life will be travelling through this train to Ayodhya, said Tanavade. He said that Goans were always enthused about visiting Ayodhya right from the time, the Shree Ram’s Idol was consecrated in the temple.

Chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant said that he along with the entire cabinet will be visiting Ayodhya on February 15 during which everyone, including those who travelled by the train from Goa will together pray before Shree Ram.

He said that Goans are thankful to PM Narendra Modi for making this dream come true.
