Porvorim: Taking a firm stand against the agitating tourist taxi operators, health minister Vishwajit Rane said that the government should break backbone of the tourist taxi associations and throw them out.
He also accused South Goa based politicians of promoting these associations, which has taken the state for ransom.
“I have no sympathy with the taxi owners association. If tourism has to grow then we need this kind of apps in Goa,” Rane told reporters.
“My sympathy is not with these guys, these guys are hooligans the way they are talking about CM Pramod Sawant in the meeting. I only hope and pray that Dr Pramod Sawant remains firm and sees that he opens the doors to taxi agencies,” he said.
“We need tourists to come to goa. it is cheaper to come to goa but expensive to drive from airport to Leela Hotel,” the minister said.
“These guys want blackmail the state of Goa. Why should we tolerate this kind of non sense. They will destroy the tourism. If you have to have four rounds a day then have four rounds a day. Not recover the money in one trip,” he said.
“That is what these guys are doing. This is not acceptable. Taxi association of Goa were promoted by the politicians from south, high time to break their backbone and throw them out,” he added.
