Porvorim: Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday told the House that the time frame in which the mining industry in the State would be resumed “cannot be ascertained.”
Sawant was responding to a question tabled on the floor of the House by BJP MLA Subhash Shirodkar who had questioned the steps taken by State government to start the mining industry in Goa.
In a written reply tabled on the floor of the House, the chief minister said that the government is exploring all the options to restart mining operation in the State.
Sawant said that the time frame cannot be ascertained at this stage; however efforts are taken to start the mining operations at the earliest.
The mining industry in the State has come to a standstill after Supreme Court quashed 88 mining leases in the State.
Union Home minister Amit Shah had recently chaired meeting of the central ministers which has been working on ways to resume the mining industry in the State.
