Calangute: Police on Wednesday arrested three persons for robbing tourists by luring them in a Bungalow at Porvorim village in North Goa.
Police have said that the gang was operating at Calangute beach area, where they used to way lead the tourists to their bungalow at Porvorim near here and rob their belongings.
Police have also written to the district administration seeking permission to seal a Wellness Spa operated by the gang in Porvorim village.
Police spokesman said that Bengaluru based tourist Girish Narasimha Shetty had filed a complaint with Calangute police that on September 15, the accused acting as a tourist guide assured them to provide hotel accommodation and took them to the bungalow at Porvorim village.
Shetty was touring Goa in the car along with his two other friends.
The complaint mentions that all the three accused robbed the complainant and his friends of the cash and also used their debit card to withdraw money, by threatening them with dire consequences.
Calangute police have arrested all the three accused – Manish Rauthan, Anshuman Sharma and Jaideep Duhal.
“The modus operandi of the accused persons was to trap the tourists from Calangute to a villa at Porvorim and thereafter loot them. The accused persons were running a Wellness Spa at Porvorim. A letter is being moved to the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Mapusa for sealing of the premises,” the spokesman said.
Calangute Police Team comprising of PI Nolasco Raposo, PSI Sushant Sangodkar, PSI Navin Dessai, Police Constables Vinay Shrivastav, Shasank Sakhalkar, Sindesh Sawant, Lady Police Constable Harsha Padloskar acted swiftly to apprehend the three accused persons.
PSI Sushant Sangodkar is conducting further investigations in this case under the supervision of PI Nolasco Raposo and overall supervision of SDPO Porvorim Edwin Colaco and SP North Utkrisht Prasoon.
