Syayampurna Goa: CHC Bicholim holds its first series of talks on diabetes care for elderly people

Bicholim: As the isolating times of coronavirus pandemic have given rise to mental and physical health issues in people, Community Health Centre, Bicholim recently conducted a talk session on diabetes under Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant initiative Syayampurna Goa for the senior citizens of the community  

CHC Bicholim, Health Officer Dr Medha Salkar introduced the concept of the series of lectures for different age groups at Adwalpal village. In their first talk, Ms Vaijanti shared how essential it is to manage diabetes especially in the elderly age group as the unmanaged diabetes can lead to many fatal health conditions including cardiovascular issues, liver ailments and vascular problems. She also highlighted that diabetes can be managed with proper diet and active lifestyle. 

The hor-long session was attended by the sarpanch of Adwalpal village Mr Narayan Salgoankar, teacher of Zantye College Mr Satyawan Harmalkar, diabetes educator Ms Vaijanti Haldankar and extension educator Ms Sulochni Hiroji.  

Syayampurna Goa is an initiative aims at motivating and encouraging citizens of all age groups to take care of their physical and mental health.  CHC Bicholim will have more lectures in the following weeks on different subjects like addiction, child health, adolescent health , mother care among others.
