Story of Goa Congress chief Amit Patkar and his phone

Panaji: Before we start narrating the experiences of Congress cadres, we will take you back to the time when INDIA Alliance was just declared and Congress was yet to announce their Goa candidates for Lok Sabha election.

AAP Goa chief Amit Palekar had told a local channel that Amit Patkar is not picking up my phone. Actually, that was not just his complaint, but also of many other Congress workers, who were trying to reach to their leader.

Back to June 10,2024: Congress had won South Goa Lok Sabha election and entire politics was focussing on Benaulim ZP by election. Then the news of Congress leader Royla Fernandes contesting as an Independent candidate was broken by our channel.

As a balanced journalist, we tried to reach to Patkar for his reaction. Our attempt to reach to him started on June 10 evening and it continued till June 11 afternoon when we finally decided to reach to him through his twitter account.

We know that Patkar reads all the tweets in which he is tagged.

We tweeted (can say we X-ed) appealing Amit Patkar to pick up our call. Then we called again, this time, the phone did ring but he cut the phone.

That is why we are not able to give you exact comment on what is Congress’ reaction to Royla contesting Benaulim ZP by election. Patkar was also absent during filing of nomination by INDIA Alliance candidate.

We appreciate Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao who picked up our call and then gave us the reaction that INDIA Alliance is behind the AAP candidate and INDIA Alliance is going to be existing even in future.
