Second highest spike in Goa, 112 test positive on single day

Panaji: Goa witnessed second highest spike in the COVID-19 positive cases in the state on Thursday with 112 people found infected with virus, while one person died.

As per health bulletin, a 50-year-old man with co-morbid condition from New Vaddem, Vasco, who was admitted in Goa Medical College and Hospital and subsequently tested positive for COVID-19 infection expired on Thursday.

The bulletin mentions that 112 new people were tested positive, which is the second highest spike in the State. The highest number of cases were reported yesterday (Wednesday) with 136 people testing positive.

During the day, 66 people were discharged from various facilities after their recovery.

The number of confirmed positive cases is 2151 in the state of which 869 are active, nine dead and 1273 recovered till Thursday.

The health officials said that out of 3831 samples tested on Thursday, 2139 are negative while 1580 reports are awaited.

The slum areas like Zuarinagar near Vasco town and Moti Dongor in Margao, both in South District, remained to be affected with coronavirus along with Mangor Hill area (Vasco) which has contributed for maximum cases in the state.

As on Thursday, 64 people still were being treated in different covidcare facilities while 111 (hundred and eleven) people from Zuarinagar continued to be under treatment.
