Valpoi: Senior social worker and Zilla Panchayat member Fato Babal Gaonkar died due to massive heart attack last night. Gaonkar was active in the social field for last 35 years.

Several people gathered at his residence after hearing the news, which was initially broke on social media. Senior Congress leader Pratapsinh Rane and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane too rushed to his residence after hearing the news about his demise.

In a message that was released, Vishwajit has said “I am very sad and shocked to hear about the demise of Fato Babal Gaonkar due to a massive heart attack last night. I woke up with great shock in the morning after seeing this news on our WhatsApp group.”

“My father Shri Pratapsingh Rane and myself, along with all the people of Sattari paid tribute to him today morning. He had been a great support to all of us like an extended part of our family. Along with that he was an active social worker for the last 30-35 years.”

“We lost a member of our family today. My father broke down and was very emotional when we went to the residence of Fato Gaonkar. We will really miss him very much. It is very rare to find such dedicated people who are committed to the cause of helping others. It is a very sad day today. May he rest in peace,” Vishwajit added.
