Panaji: The Saligao Citizen Forum (SCF) today alleged that the Communidade of Saligao is involved in construction of illegal commercial project in the tenanted field without obtaining any permissions from the government authorities.

SCF spokesperson Domnic Fernandes also alleged political blessing to the project, which is located at a distance of hardly 15 meters from the office of local MLA and Minister Jayesh Salgaoncar.

“Communidade of Saligao has constructed a commercial project with ground plus two floors in the tenanted field at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore,” he said.

As per the information available under RTI, we have come to know that Town and Country Planning (TCP) had sent back the file to the communidade stating that the project cannot be granted permission since the site is tenanted field, he said.

“Even the panchayat has said that no permission is granted by their department,” he said adding ‘Administrator of Communidade North and Deputy Collector Bardez, both have not replied to the RTI’.

Fernandes informed that SCF in February had approached deputy director panchayat with the complaint, who had issued letter to BDO II-Bardez to conduct necessary site inspection and submit the report. “However, BDO took almost five months to conduct the inspection,” he said.

“However, by then, the project was 95 percent complete and till date there is no action as such against the illegality,” he added.

SCF said that when the illegal commercial project of such magnitude in the tenanted field is allowed to complete its construction, they suspect the blessing of political leader, who has ensured that no action is taken.
