Sailing expedition of BCYC reaches Goa

Panaji: The Bombay Customs Yacht Club (BCYC) under the patronage of  Chief Commissioner Shri Bani Bhattacharya, set sail on April 23 for Goa from the Apollo harbour in Mumbai in their yacht JAYCUS III. The expedition reach Dona Paula, Sailing club   Hawai Beach, Near Dona Paula Police Station, recently.

The crew, captained by Shri Kenneth D’Souza, consisted of officers from Mumbai GST and Customs. This landmark sailing expedition has been conducted after a hiatus of 15 years. Previous sails have been as far as Muscat , Seychelles, Singapore etc.

Through the expedition, CBIC initiatives towards trade facilitation, Green customs, Swachh Abhiyan etc is also being highlighted. This voyage is also to commemorate the role of Indian Customs in improving  India’s ranking in Ease of Doing Business through enhanced Trade Facilitation measures.

The BCYC  is home to seasoned sailors, dedicated Customs officers who guard our economic borders and sea faring folks who have traversed the globe on sailboats. After its revival in 2017, BCYC has been conducting training for the departmental officers in the sport of sailing. They have organized the prestigious Customs cup Regatta 2018 and 2019 successfully.
