St Cruz: Sources said that the road Alignment of Santa Cruz slope is shifted due to which there is traffic congestion and accidents in survey number 110/1 and 111/1 where the commercial project is awaiting occupancy.
Congress leaders Elvis Gomes, John Nazareth and Ulhas Baje said that the alignment of road near slope at Santa Cruz has been shifted without any proper procedures.
The opposition panch member Inacio Domnic Pereira, based on the information received by him, had moved an application to be placed in the fortnightly meeting objecting to grant occupancy for a commercial project there and to seek explanation from Town and Country Planning department and Ministry of Roadways and Transport as the commercial building will cause traffic congestion for GMC visitors , schools childerns and nearby villages will be effective.
However, sources stated that Sarpanch of santa cruz Jennifer Oliveira declined to discuss the matter stating the matter subjudice.
When contacted, Pereira said that the matter regarding the project is before the Honarable High court filed by Activist Swapnesh Sherlekar and others.
He said that there is no such stay granted by Honourable High Court to V.P st cruz refraining them to take any decision in the interest of public , declining to discuss such a important public interest issue by Sarpanch of Santa Cruz is questionable.
