Panaji: Former Corporation of City of Panaji Mayor Uday Madkaikar has expressed surprise that suddenly Congress leader Elvis Gomes has began calling people asking for the support to him.
“I have also been hearing Elvis Gomes. He has been calling people asking for support. I am also surprised. Panaji block had recommended my name, Surendra Furtado and Menino D’Cruz. Now I have come to know that Elvis Gomes is suddenly showing the interest.”
Madkaikar said that he along with Furtado had started the campaigning and there was a mutual understanding that anyone of them gets ticket, they would support each other.
“After hearing all this our mood is off. We have stopped the campaigning.”
“I am hopeful that Dinesh Gundu Rao, Girish Chodankar and others will give ticket to either me or Furtado.”
