Ponda: In a late night development, BJP has approved the candidature of Vishwanath Dalvi as the next Chairperson of Ponda Municipal Council, while newly inducted party leader Reitesh Ravi Naik has been thrown out of the race.
Party sources stated that the decision to give ticket to Vishwanath Dalvi was taken after marathon meeting of BJP in Ponda.
Sources confirmed that Reitesh was admitted in the partyfold with an assurance to give post of PMC Chairperson.
The development has sent shock waves in the camp of Reitesh Naik, who along with his brother Roy had joined BJP in presence of party Goa unit president Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Union Minister Shripad Naik and Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar.
The elections for the post would be held on Thursday, August 27.
