Program on ‘RTI act 2005’ held in S.S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics by Merces Free Legal Aid Cell

Panaji : Merces Free Legal aid cell which functions under V. M. Salgaocar College of law conducted a program on Right to Information Act 2005 in S.S. Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Bambolim. The legal aid cell provides free legal help to those in need and conducts various programs sensitising Goans  about different laws.
The program was held on 22 April 2021 in the morning first half through the online medium of Google Meet.
 
The Program was conducted in three different divisions of the college, Professor Reshma Pai Angle introduced the legal aid cell to the students while Professor Sarita Parkar coordinated between the college and the legal aid cell. Around Hundred students benefited from the program.
Gabe Mendes a member of the legal aid cell told students “RTI act is a powerful tool which is given to citizen, one can use this act for personal or collective benefit of the community, it is one of the most effective tools to tackle corruption in administration”
“Any Indian Citizen can file an RTI, even if he/she is illiterate, every government office has a Public Information Officer to whom such RTI can be submitted to and to which he has to reply within 30 days” said the cell members.
Prasanjeet Dhage the cell incharge of Merces Legal Aid cell concluded the program by giving vote of thanks to Principal, Professors and students of S. S. Dempo College Of Commerce and economics for giving an opportunity to conduct the program in their college.
