Panaji: President Ram Nath Kovind is all set to arrive in Goa on a three day long visit from September 05 onwards. According to the media release by the State Information and Publicity Department, the President will be on a three day long visit between September 05-07.
“President Kovind will attend the presentation of the ‘President’s Colour’ to naval aviation coinciding with the diamond jubilee celebration of INS Hansa on September 6,” the statement added.
INS Hansa is the biggest naval air base. It was conceived in 1961 at Sulur and was shifted to Goa in 1964 after the coastal state became a part of India. The base also houses a civilian airport and 10 squadrons. The base also daily handles 30 to 45 civil flight arrivals. The airstrip had a total 12,440 civil flights and 7,000 hours’ of flying of military aircraft to its credit. It is also home for MiG-29Ks that would be attached to aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya, and Sea Harriers attached to aircraft carrier INS Viraat.
