Pratima Coutinho, Abhijit Desai booked under stringent POCSO Act

Panaji: Women Police Station has finally filed filed First Information Report (FIR) against Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee President Pratima Coutinho and four other under  POCSO and Juvenile Justice Act, 2012 for revealing identity of a minor molestation victim.

The FIR has named Coutinho, GPMCC Vice President Savitri Kavlekar, Deputy Sarpanch of Netravali panchayat Abhijit Desai and panch members – Vitthal Gaonkar and Prakash Bhagat.

All the accused are booked under section 34 of Indian Penal Code (a criminal act by several persons in furtherance of the common intention of all), Section 74 of Juvenile Justice Act and Section 23 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

Shiv Sena Goa Vice President Rakhi Prabhudesai Naik had filed the complaint against all the accused for revealing identity of a 17-year-old girl who is victim of a molestation by Jharkhand based boy in Sanguem taluka of South Goa.

Coutinho along with other accused had visited the village on July 08, 2018 and thereafter had circulated the message on social media revealing identity of mother of the victim.
