Panaji: The attempt to file complaint against prostitution in their area proved costly for a group of women from Ramnagar in Betim who were manhandled at Porvorim Police station.
The video footage that has gone viral shows policemen refusing to accept their complaint and even a lady police in civil clothes snatched a mobile phone from them when they were shooting police’s reluctance to entertain their plea.
It is learnt that the incident happened last evening when group of women had gone with a complaint that was signed by more than 60 ladies.
Their demand was that police should register their complaint and investigate into it. This was second attempt by the locals to file the complaint, as the first one had failed.
A group of women had complained that prostitution was going on in their area due to which the peace in their area has been breached.
The women have said that they were feeling insecure in their own houses due to this activity.
They claimed that the police were reluctant to register their complaint when they had visited Porvorim police station for the first time.
More than 60 women have signed on the complaint which is submitted to the police.
When they came for the second time, they were meted out with similar behaviour. But this time they had decided not to go back.
The ladies have complained that they were physically pushed when they were inside Porvorim police station. The policemen wanted them to go back without filing the complaint, they alleged.
www.goanewhub.com has accessed the videos which clearly shows police arguing with the complainants.
During the day, we will try to contact senior police officers to know action taken in regards to the complaint and why these women were asked not to lodge their grievance against the prostitution in their area.
