Old Goa Police Arrest Thief in Karnataka, Recover Stolen Gold Worth Rs. 5 Lakh

Old Goa, 13th November 2024: The Old Goa Police successfully apprehended a woman involved in a theft case, recovering stolen gold items worth Rs. 5 lakh. The theft was reported on the night of 13th November 2024 when the complainant, a resident of Old Goa, discovered that six gold bangles, one gold ring, and a gold necklace were missing from their residence.

Case Details: An FIR was registered at Old Goa Police Station under Crime No. 115/2024, invoking Section 306 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, concerning theft. The initial investigation revealed that the theft had been carried out by the complainant’s servant/caretaker.

Following the registration of the offence, two special teams were formed, led by S.P. North Shri Akshat Kaushal, IPS, and dispatched to Karnataka.

Accused Apprehended in Khanapur: After coordinating and conducting surveillance with the Karnataka Police, one of the teams successfully tracked down the suspect, identified as Kashibai Nayak, a 34-year-old maid from Devara Hippargi, Karnataka, who had been working as a caretaker in the complainant’s household. The accused was located in Khanapur, Karnataka, and taken into custody on the same day, 13th November 2024.
