Porvorim: The residents of Porvorim are living in darkness over last several hours now as the Electricity Department office in the constituency is short staffed and without any plan to solve the current crisis.
Local MLA Rohan Khaunte on Sunday visited the office only to find that it has only six staff while Assistant Engineer is on leave. The charge of this office is with an officer attached to Calangute, where he is already over loaded.
The Porvorim constituency is currently facing death-traps everywhere as the trees have come down bringing along with them the electricity lines.
The efforts by locals and even MLA to get Fire and Emergency Services to clear off the roads fetched no results.
The Disaster Management Plan for the constituency was entirely lacking. The officers were groping in darkness as to what should they be doing to solve the crisis.
