PM accidental, life insurance scheme to benefit 6.17 lakh Goans: CM

Panaji: With its smooth implementation in the state, the Prime Minister Suraksha Bima Yojana and Prime Minister Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana is providing accidental and life insurance cover to more than 6.17 lakh Goans, chief minister Pramod Sawant stated on Friday.

“A visionary scheme of PM Narendra Modi for protection and the financial security of the poor,” he added.

4,29,827 have been enrolled for PM Suraksha Bima Yojana, while 1,87,492 have been enrolled forJeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana in Goa.

An amount of Rs 2 lakh has been assured under the accident insurance scheme with a premium of Rs 12 per annum. The accidental insurance will cover death or disability by an accident. The age limitation is from 18-70.

With a premium of Rs 330 per annum the life insurance assures beneficiaries an amount of Rs 2 lakh. The insurance will cover death regardless of the cause of death. The age criteria is from 18-50.

Saving bank account holders can avail the scheme through their bank.
