Pernem tops the list of municipal voting percentage, CCP is the last

Panaji: In all 82.59 per cent people voted for the  six municipal bodies and the Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP), the polls for which were held on Saturday.

Along with the CCP, the elections were held for the municipal bodies of Canacona, Curchorem-Cacora, Bicholim, Cuncolim, Valpoi and Pernem.

The by-polls were also held for Zilla Panchayat constituency of Navelim and several other panchayat wards.

While the CCP reported, the lowest, that is 70.19 per cent voting, Pernem municipal council poll had highest, that is, 91.02 percent people participating in the democratic exercise, mentions the data by State Election Commission.

Curchorem-Cacora municipal council reported 80.24 per cent of the voting, Bicholim council had 87.96 per cent, Cuncolim had 76.35 per cent, and Valpoi had 85.50 per cent polling reported during the day.

The SEC had kept time between 4 pm to 5 pm for people who are covid-19 positive to vote. A senior SEC official said that only one patient voted and he was voter of Valpoi Municipal Council.
