Panaji: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Tuesday said that a foreigner who had travelled to the coastal state from China has been kept in isolation at state-run facility due to suspected to be affected with Coronavirus.
Rane said that the health authorities have come across a suspected case of coronavirus, who is a foreigner traveling from China.
“The patient has been shifted to the isolation ward at Goa Medical College and Hospital,” he said.
The minister said that the medical samples of the patient has been sent for further investigation to Pune and reports are awaited.
“I would like to assure our citizens that the task force is reviewing the preparedness of the situation an are on vigil to tackle the virus,” he said.
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat, in a statement issued here on Tuesday said that there is no need to panic.
“Let us not panic. Let us all be alert and careful. Prevention is better than cure. Let us all maintain hygiene,” he said.
Kamat urged Chief Minsiter Pramod Sawant and Health Minister Rane “to take preventive steps on priority.”
