Panaji Police Station Solves Electric Scooter Theft Case with Arrests of Two Suspects

Panaji, Goa, 19th June 2024: The Panaji Police Station has successfully solved a case of electric scooter theft, leading to the arrest of two suspects. The incident was reported by Mr. Damodar, son of Srikan Naik, a 50-year-old civil contractor. Mr. Damodar reported that his electric scooter, a Gemopai valued at approximately Rs. 98,000/-, was stolen from outside his residence at H No. 71, Father Agnel Road, Altinho, Panaji.

The theft occurred between the evening of 28th May 2024 at around 8:00 PM, when Mr. Damodar parked his scooter in front of his house, and the morning of 29th May 2024 at around 10:00 AM, when he discovered it missing. Despite an extensive search of the surrounding area, the scooter could not be found, leading Mr. Damodar to conclude that it had been stolen by an unknown individual(s).

Upon receiving the complaint, an offence was registered under Panaji PS Cr. No. 88/24 u/s 379 IPC.

Following an intensive investigation and thorough searches, the police have arrested two individuals in connection with the theft:

1. *Basant Mijar*, son of Bhopal Mijar, age 19 years, employed as a cook at Dic Restaurant, Mayem Lake, Bicholim, and residing at Dic Restaurant, Mayem Lake, Bicholim, Goa.
2. *Bishal Gurung*, son of Narayan Gurung, age 24 years, employed as a cook at Silver Spoon, Sankali, and residing at Silver Spoon Bar and Restaurant, Sankali, Goa.

Both suspects are natives of Nepal and were apprehended following leads and intelligence gathered by the police.
