Panaji – The Private Member Resolution tabled by Velim MLA Cruz Silva was to express solidarity with People of Manipur. It was to show to the Nation that Goa is with Manipur, stated Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao.

He was speaking to the Media after staging a Walk out with other MLAs namely Altone D’Costa, Viresh Borkar, Venzy Veigas and Cruz Silva after the Speaker announced that the Private Member Resolution on Manipur was disallowed by him. All the five MLAs staged a Dharna below “Ashok Stambha” at the entrance of Assembly Hall.

It was completely unfair on part of the Speaker not to allow the Private Member Resolution. Opposition MLAs have every Right to speak for Goa and for the Nation, Stated Yuri Alemao.

We raised the issue at the beginning of today’s proceedings. The Speaker informed us that he will give the ruling after the Question Hour. As we raised the issue during the Zero Hour, the Speaker requested us to allow the Zero Hour and agreed to give his ruling before the commencement of Private Members’ Business. Unfortunately, the Speaker disallowed the Resolution which compelled us to walk out of the House, informed Yuri Alemao.
