Panaji: The opposition parties on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to Speaker of Legislative Assembly Ramesh Tawadkar requesting to continue with the old convention of allowing alternate question to opposition and ruling during the upcoming Budget session of the House.

The opposition parties led by Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao on Monday had warned to boycott the upcoming Budget session of Goa legislative Assembly scheduled to start from February 2 pointing out that the legislature department had done away with the conventional practice of allowing one question to ruling and opposition.

On Tuesday, Alemao along with other opposition MLAs submitted memorandum to Tawadkar.

The memorandum is signed by Yuri Alemao, Adv. Carlos Alvares Ferreira, Altone D’Costa (all Congress MLAs), Vijai Sardessai (Goa Forward party), Venzy Viegas, Cruz Silva (both AAP) and Viresh Borkar (Revolutionary Goans Party).

Tawadkar on Monday had said that the convention of allowing one question each to opposition and ruling was changed following request by a group of BJP MLAs.
The government is currently having support of 33 MLAs while there are seven in the opposition.
