NIO to conduct study on River Pollution

Porvorim: Government has appointed National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) to conduct river pollution study in the State.

Environment Minister Nilesh Cabral said that the work order of the project would be issued to NIO soon, with scope of work includes identifying level of contamination, source of pollution and to recommend measure to revive it.

Cabral also said that Government will constitute a committee under Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, who will demarcate the river boundaries and demolish all the encroachments that have come up along the banks of the river.

Minister was speaking while replying to the Calling Attention motion moved by Goa Forward Party (GFP) MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar with regards to pollution of River Tar is in Mapusa.
