Sankhalim: Goa government will announce a new site for proposed IIT Goa campus within a month, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on Friday.
State government had witnessed unprecedented protests by Shel-Melaulim villagers in Sattari taluka, last month, over the proposed IIT campus in their village forcing the authorities to scrap the project.
Sawant said that the search for a new place to set up the campus is already on, while three to four spots across the state are already shortlisted by the state government.
He was talking to reporters after inaugurating the event of Atal Incubation Centre at Goa Institute of Management.
“We will be announcing the panel within next week which will be authorized to visit these places,” he said.
Referring to the protests in Sattari, Sawant said that the state government has witnessed how difficulties can arouse for the project.
“We will consider all the difficulties before finalizing the spot,” he said.
He said that the site would be announced within a month.
