National Institute of Hydrography OIC nominated on Goa University’s Academic Council

Panaji: The Goa University Executive Council has nominated Commodore Sajeev Nair, the Officer in Charge of the National Institute of Hydrography (NIH) on its Academic Council, which is a unique distinction. The Academic Council is the highest academic body of the University and is responsible for the maintenance of standards of instruction, education and examination within the University. It has the right to advise the Executive Council on all academic matters.
The National Institute of Hydrography (NIH) at Goa is a premier training institute of the Indian Navy under the Southern Naval Command. It imparts training in the specialised field of Hydrography to Indian Navy officers and sailors and also to personnel from friendly foreign countries. It also provides training to civilian personnel from Ports and Govt Maritime Boards and organisations.

The NIH conducts the Long Hydrography and Basic Hydrography courses that are internationally recognised by the International Hydrographic Organisation. The Institute has successfully got curriculum for both the courses certified as per the revised 2019 standards recently for a period of six years.
The Institute has been affiliated with the Goa University for the Post Graduate degree since 1998 and for the PG Diploma and Certificate courses since 2015.
The Goa University has a large number of affiliated colleges and Institutions and offers undergraduate and postgraduate studies and research programmes.
