Panaji: Union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna on Thursday paid tributes at the memorial of former Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar near Panaji.
Somanna has been on an official visit to the coastal state since Wednesday.
The Minister of State, along with other local leaders, paid floral tributes at the memorial of late Manohar Parrikar at Miramar Beach, Panaji.
He said that as Prime Minister Narendra Modi completes 12 years leading the nation, it is important to honour visionary leaders who contributed to nation-building and to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Somanna said that late Parrikar served as the Chief Minister of Goa and as the Union Defence Minister, contributing to the development of Goa and the country.
He said that Parrikar played an important role in shaping the nation’s defence sector and strengthening it.
