MiG 29K Aircraft develops technical snag off Goa coast, pilot ejected to safety

Vasco: A MiG 29K which had taken off from INS Hansa in Goa crashed mid-Sea on Wednesday after developing a technical snag, Indian Navy has said.

The single-seater Aircraft which was on its routine sortie crashed mid-sea after taking off from Naval Base INS Hansa located Vasco town in South Goa, Indian Navy spokesman said.

Immediately after the incident, the Indian Navy tweeted “A MiG 29K on a routine sortie over sea off Goa developed a technical malfunction while returning to base. The pilot ejected safely and has been recovered in a swift SAR ops. Pilot reported to be in stable condition. BOI ordered to investigate the cause of the incident.”

He said that the exact time of the crash is yet to be ascertained as right now the pilot is being brought to the shore. “The pilot is stable,” he added.
