Ponda: Putting all speculations to rest, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) president Pandurang ‘Deepak’ Dhavalikar announced that Dr Ketan Bhatikar will be the contest from Ponda for the 2022 assembly elections.
“Bhatikar has tirelessly worked towards the betterment of the party and kept the spirit among MGP workers from Ponda for the past four years. We are considering him for the coming general election to the Goa Legislative Assembly,” Dhavalikar told reporters.
Dr Bhatikar, a physiotherapist had joined the regional political party four years ago, and recently led the party workers during the Ponda municipal council (PMC) election and Zilla Panchayat polls.
It may be recalled that under his guidance, MGP’s panel had won seven seats in 15-member PMC. He was also instrumental in clinching three seats for his party in the recent ZP polls.
Dhavalikar said that he will be conducting the party’s organisational elections by January end. Twenty-seven party members had alleged that Dhavalikar has been holding party president post illegally. Dhavalikar refuted the allegations.
