Goa, April 17, 2025: Manipal Hospital Goa has launched Selective Internal Radiation Therapy (SIRT), also known as Transarterial Radioembolization (TARE), marking a major advancement in precision treatment for liver tumors. This cutting-edge therapy delivers radioactive microspheres directly into the tumor’s blood supply, ensuring targeted radiation with minimal damage to healthy tissue.

The launch event, “SIRT – A Game Changer in Liver Tumor”, was spearheaded by Dr. Charudutt J. Sambhaji and Dr. Pankaj Mhatre, and featured global oncology experts including keynote speaker Prof. Dr. Pierce K. H. Chow from Singapore and Dr. Sanjay S. Baijal from Medanta, Gurugram.

Dr. Charudutt emphasized SIRT as a “quantum leap in cancer care in the region,” while Dr. Salkar highlighted its collaborative approach involving multidisciplinary specialists to enhance patient outcomes.
