Man wanted in 86 theft, housebreaking, robbery cases across Goa, Karnataka, AP, Odisha arrested

Panaji: A 42-year-old man from Odisha wanted in connection with 86 cases of housebreaking and theft across Goa, Odisha, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh was arrested on Saturday in the coastal state.

 A senior Panaji police officer said that Santosh Kumar Das, 42, was arrested in connection with a theft case in a shop at Miramar beach.

During the investigation, the accused have confessed of committing nearly 48 housebreaking, theft and robbery cases in and around Panaji.

The accused originally hails from Nayagarh in Odisha.

He said that the accused has confessed to have committed 15 theft cases in his own state (Odisha), 29 in Andhra Pradesh and four in Karnataka, besides 48 in Goa.

The officer said that the accused was arrested while investigating Rs 1.57 lakh theft case from a skin clinic at Miramar near here.

The thief had also stolen CCTV’s DVR from the clinic and had deleted the data. Police have recovered the DVR and also data.
