Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday reiterated that the state will not go for the lockdown as such an action will disturb the economic activity in the state.

Sawant recalled that during the same time, last year, the state had a lockdown due to COVID-19 following which the entire economy had come to standstill.

He said that currently the economic activities are getting revived and another lockdown will disturb them.

The Chief Minister said that the economic activity in Goa had “zeroed down” after the last lockdown.

“There was drop in GST collection while industries like tourism had suffered a jolt. We want to avoid the situation again,” he said.

Sawant said that COVID-19 would not be controlled merely with the lockdown but we need to take up steps like prevention and vaccination.

The chief minister said that the state has written to the Union Health Ministry to relax age bar for vaccination for the people from tourism and media industry.

  1. If Biryani is cooked in the house, do mother will give to their children first or to the children of neighbours? First priority will be our children and then neighbours children. First make India a Corona Virus Free and then go for making other country a Corona Virus free. Stop Exporting Vaccines!
