Panaji: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday said that their MLA Michael Lobo quitting the party will have no impact on its prospects for upcoming State Legislative Assembly election.
BJP Goa President Sadanand Shet Tanavade said that Lobo had left the party long back, and he was “only physically present with us.”
Tanavade said that the Lobo may have left but the workers in Calangute Assembly constituency still remains with the party. He said that party will field a fresh candidate in Calangute assembly segment to retain the seat.
On Monday, Lobo, who was Port minister in Pramod Sawant-led cabinet, had resigned from the House and the party. The leader is expected to join Congress later during the day.
