Panaji: I have shined my shoes, I ready for my victory was how former Goa chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar reacted a day before the counting.
Parsekar has rebelled against BJP to contest as an Independent candidate from his traditional Mandrem constituency for recently held election. BJP had given candidature to sitting MLA Dayanand Sopte.
The former chief minister was seen shining his shoes on a footpath in Panaji city on Wednesday. “I have shined my shoes, I am ready for my victory,” he commented.
“I have contested election this time by being in my own constituency this time, unlike 2017 election when I lost,” said Parsekar, who had lost the election being in the position of the chief minister.
He said that during 2017 he could not concentrate on his constituency as he was busy managing the state as the chief minister.
“This time, I have travelled across the constituency as an Independent candidate,” he said adding that he is ready for his victory.
When asked whether he would support BJP after his victory, Parsekar refused to answer saying it was hypothetical to ask such things at this juncture.
