Panaji: The Goa Crime Branch on Friday evening arrested a man from Himachal Pradesh at Arambol village in North Goa for possessing charas worth Rs 21.98 lakh.
Director General of Police Alok Kumar stated that this is the biggest charas recovery by Goa Police in the last year.
A police spokesperson said that the raid was conducted at Arambol village in North Goa on Friday evening, leading to the arrest of Yugal Kishor Singh, originally from Kullu, Himachal Pradesh.
During the raid, 239 pieces of charas were found, weighing 2.198 kilograms and valued at Rs 21.98 lakh.
The accused was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Reacting to the arrest, the DGP stated that the accused had brought the narcotic substance from his native place in Himachal Pradesh and was selling it in Goa.
This is the fourth case registered by the Crime Branch in January 2025. A total of Rs 25 lakh worth of drugs have been seized by the Crime Branch with the arrest of four peddlers, he added.
